d27: but everyone here has been mutinying for quite a while

mio: so -- how come y'all weren't happy with him? he seemed ok
d27: oh god he was terrible
d27: totally incompetent
d27: no leadership, no management, no vision
d27: no follow through, no decison making
d27: infurtiating really
mio: who's taking his place? mc?
d27: they got approval for a new hire, so the job will be posted. its not clear if mc or kk will apply. i really hope a. is more careful this time
mio: well, dm ended up as editor by default, no?

d27: right. it was a bad desicion at the time. they should have looked outside
mio: i agree. i think it was an 'oh, fuck what to do' decison
d27: i think he's pretty good as an editor but not the man for the managning editor position
d27: you had no issues with him?
mio: Yeah, i did. mostly his slowness -- i was always going nuts wanting to get on stuff, and waiting for reply. he was good as an editor. i think he'd be ok with the vision thing left alone to ponder, but he's not strong enough to deal with other issues. and no follow through, for sure.
d27: believe me NO vision

mio: maybe it was just his agreeing with my visions that i liked. but yeah, not a geek.
d27: that was one nice thing about his incompetence.. he let ppl mkae their own decidions
mio: yup, he was such a non-entity that he was easy for me to work with.
d27: i've been able to really expand my position here since he never did anyting

mio: his success was that he was a failure, and we all appreciated that about him
d27: OH God!!!! LOL
d27: he fucked himself big time b4 he left on that trip to the east coast

d27: well -- he came into this morning budget mtg the day b4 he left and proceded to ream everyone for a thin post
d27: he complained that there were not enough package stories
d27: and that there were not enough stories coming in
d27: basically he came in there with a bevvy of complaints that refelcted only back at him (since he's sposed to be the one who handles the overarching vision of the site) and when pressed had no constructive suggestions
d27: so everyone got really pissed and his response was to get defensive and take absoltley no responsiblity. so then once he was gone for the week the mutiny reached fever pitch
mio: ah, now the ?'s he asked me at lunch make sense
mio: when he was here, he asked me for list of stories we could do over next few months.
d27: but none of us expected a. to do anything about it
d27: oh god!! that is just hilarious. so incredibly DM
mio: yup, guess i didn't get list done in time

mio: hard to hire someone new now though, with axe hanging over TL....

d27: but he's been doing so little here that i think we could run without him for a long time
mio: so, he just wandered out yesterday -- no desk cleaning or anything?
d27: We could really use a strong leader. preferably with a good temper and good communication
d27: he sposedly found out last night. but he hasn't been here today

mio: so... i said to my husband, my editor DM got fired cos he had no vision. and husband said 'geeze, he's an albinio. of course his vision is bad. what'd they expect?'
